Shishmaref Erosion and Relocation Coalition

talks to us about the people of Shishmaref, Alaska, and their decision to move their village and their culture to higher and safer ground. This is perhaps the first case in which an American town is being forced to relocate due directly to global warming.

The village of Shishmaref, an island that has supported people for thousands of years, cannot do so much longer. Shismaref's people are making plans to head to higher ground, as the rising waters and changes to the winter ice shelf have led to the erosion of hundreds of feet of land. Time is running out.

"Sink or Swim" is composed and performed by San Diego, California's own Berkley Hart, one of the finest acoustic singer/songwriter teams in the country. Please take a look at their fine collection of albums and if you're lucky, you may find them appearing in a venue near you. www.berkleyhart.com
