A giclee is a wonderfully artistic term for reproduction of original art, usually on canvas and derived from the French world for "spray". What is unique about giclees is that they can now be produced one at a time, ten at a time or in runs of hundreds. They are also a vast improvement over other reproduction methods because they create a continuous tonality (colors are solid as opposed to composed of little dots) and they can be readily printed on artist's canvas and fine papers. They are quickly becoming a very popular and acceptable way of purchasing works of art in limited numbers.
Giclees are printed on very large and very expensive digital printers using special inks to assure permanence of color and brilliance. The printers can print on continuous rolls of high grade canvass or paper.
When you access the enlarged images of paintings, look for "giclee available". Those so designated can be ordered as a giclee.
I price my giclee reproductions strictly according to size. Most of my paintings will be available in standard sizes. Most can be reproduced full size. They can also be reproduced in a variety of sizes up to the size of the original.
