In
1969, Pete Seeger had a dream to build a wooden boat that
would serve to bring awareness
about the importance of the Hudson River. Now, 35 years
later, the Clearwater takes people onto the river, from
Albany to New York City, and teaches them the value of
keeping the river and all rivers, healthy. The ICCO4
conference coordinates with New London's Tall Ships Celebration, and features 4
environmental education tall ships. Participants to the ICC04 will sail on the
ships as part of the conference program.

Jane Goodall and
Roots & Shoots members worked with children from around the
world during the conference to give them a voice
in international decision-making on the environment and sustainable
development. Roots & Shoots students
participated in the conference and trained their fellow students in leading
group discussions.
